The Skilled Worker Licence allows fisheries to sponsor a variety of key roles, including: Deckhands, Filleters, Fishmongers, Fish Processors, Fishing Boat Masters, Hatchery Workers and Fish Fryers. These positions are in high demand within the industry and are eligible for sponsorship under the UK government’s immigration rules.
As a sponsor, you have a responsibility to ensure that: Sponsored workers have the correct visa and qualifications for their roles. You monitor and report changes such as employee absences, changes in job duties, or terminations. You keep up-to-date records of your employees' right-to-work documentation and comply with all UK immigration laws.
While the sponsor is required to pay for the Immigration Skills Surcharge and Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), employees can opt to pay for the NHS health surcharge themselves. In case of early termination of the visa, both parties may be eligible for refunds on the surcharges.
