The British National Overseas Visa is available for individuals who hold BNO status. Individuals can live in Hong Kong, the UK, or can be BNO status holders in other countries. You are not required to have a BNO passport in order to apply for this visa. Family members who normally live with a BNO status holder can also apply.
The BNO Visa is UK based, which means you can be ensured full confidentiality if you choose to apply. The status of your application will not be shared with the Hong Kong government, and will be dealt with within the UK.
Westkin has a team of experienced lawyers ready to assist you with your BNO Visa applications. If you have BNO status and want to move to the UK with your family, please get in touch through our website or by calling our office on 0207 1184 546 so a member of our team can assist you.
Applications for the BNO Visa can be completed through an online form. You may be required to visit a visa application centre or a UK Visa and citizenship application service location to provide biometric data.

Requirements of the BNO:

Dependants: Applications for the BNO Visa can be made as a family unit – this means that you can bring dependants to the UK with you. You may be required to provide evidence of your relationship with the dependant, for example, proving your relationship is genuine with your spouse, and evidencing that children under 18 are part of your household.
Financial: Individuals must be able to meet the minimum financial requirements of the visa. Applicants will need to be able to prove through bank statements or letters from family members or friends that they have savings to support themselves whilst living in the UK. From applicants applying from outside of the UK, the minimum savings threshold varies. How much you need depends on how many family members are applying with you.
For example, you’ll need about:
Applicants who have been living in the UK for more than a year when they apply do not need to meet this requirement.
Tuberculosis: If you normally live in Hong Kong, you must provide a tuberculosis (TB) test certificate from an approved centre with your application. Applicants applying from within the UK may also need to provide a certificate depending on how long their grant of permission is for.
