Our BNO Visa Services

The British National Overseas Visa is available for individuals who hold BNO status. Individuals can live in Hong Kong, the UK, or can be BNO status holders in other countries. You are not required to have a BNO passport in order to apply for this visa. Family members who normally live with a BNO status holder can also apply.

The BNO Visa is UK based, which means you can be ensured full confidentiality if you choose to apply. The status of your application will not be shared with the Hong Kong government, and will be dealt with within the UK.

Westkin has a team of experienced lawyers ready to assist you with your BNO Visa applications. If you have BNO status and want to move to the UK with your family, please get in touch through our website or by calling our office on 0207 1184 546 so a member of our team can assist you.

Right to work in the UK for you and your dependants.

Right to set up your own company in the UK.

A route to settlement after 5 years of living in the UK on the BNO Visa, with only one application needed.

Full confidentiality within the UK.

This is the third time that we have used Westkin Associates and as usual they did not disappoint. My wife and daughter now have indefinite leave to remain. I cannot speak highly enough of Andreea Florea, from the start she handled the process with complete transparency and professionalism.

This time our application was not straightforward but at every step I felt that Andreea was completely in control of the process, nothing was too much trouble for her and I was kept informed at every part of the application. Andreea was always available for telephone calls and I was always surprised how quickly she responded to emails.

I would not hesitate to recommend Westkin associates.

Detailed information about our BNO Visas service

Applications for the BNO Visa can be completed through an online form. You may be required to visit a visa application centre or a UK Visa and citizenship application service location to provide biometric data.

You may feel uncertainty about planning your move to the UK under the current global pandemic. We understand your concerns, and are here to assist you step by step and to help you put your mind at rest. Individuals who apply for the BNO Visa can benefit from no restrictions on when you travel to the UK. This means any complications or unexpected hurdles can be accommodated for.

Requirements of the BNO:

Residency: The BNO Visa requires individuals to be ordinarily resident in either Hong Kong or the UK. Ordinary residence in Hong Kong may need to be proven through a Hong Kong ID card, voters card or letter from your employer.

Dependants: Applications for the BNO Visa can be made as a family unit – this means that you can bring dependants to the UK with you. You may be required to provide evidence of your relationship with the dependant, for example, proving your relationship is genuine with your spouse, and evidencing that children under 18 are part of your household.

Financial: Individuals must be able to meet the minimum financial requirements of the visa. Applicants will need to be able to prove through bank statements or letters from family members or friends that they have savings to support themselves whilst living in the UK. From applicants applying from outside of the UK, the minimum savings threshold varies. How much you need depends on how many family members are applying with you.

For example, you’ll need about:

  • £2,000 for a single adult
  • £3,100 for a couple with a child
  • £4,600 for a couple with 3 children
  • £9,200 for a couple, 2 parents and 2 adult children.

Applicants who have been living in the UK for more than a year when they apply do not need to meet this requirement.

Tuberculosis: If you normally live in Hong Kong, you must provide a tuberculosis (TB) test certificate from an approved centre with your application. Applicants applying from within the UK may also need to provide a certificate depending on how long their grant of permission is for.

At Westkin, our team is experienced in making the Visa application process stress-free for you and your family. We’ll assist you in gathering the necessary documentation needed for your application, helping to improve your chances of successfully gaining your visa. For assistance with your BNO Visa application, please get in touch.
