Further detail

Detailed information about our Graduate Visa service

You will need to have completed the entirety of your course in the UK as a student, apart from permitted study abroad programmes or remote study due to COVID-19, for which specific concessions have been agreed.

You must have completed the qualification that was named on the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) associated with your Student (or Tier 4) visa, or following a change of course which was allowed without applying for further permission.

Successful applicants for the Graduate Visa route will not need sponsorship in order to work in the UK, and there is no minimum salary requirement. Individuals will also not be required to remain in one job, but can move across roles while under the same visa.

The route does not require you to show funds or finance, and you do not need to demonstrate English language ability when applying, as you will have already proved English language ability by successfully completing your degree at a UK university.

You can also apply if you completed any of the following:

  • a law conversion course approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority
  • the Legal Practice Course in England and Wales, the Solicitors Course in Northern Ireland, or a Diploma in Professional Legal Practice in Scotland
  • the Bar Practice Course in England and Wales, or the Bar Course in Northern Ireland
  • a foundation programme in medicine or dentistry
  • a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
  • a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)

Your education provider can tell you if your course is eligible.

You may also be able to apply if passing your course made you eligible for a job that’s regulated by UK law or a UK public authority, or if you’re on a current Student visa or Tier 4 (General) student visa because you’re a Student Union Sabbatical Officer.

If you are currently a UK higher education student, or have recently graduated from your course, our team is available to answer your questions about the Graduate Visa route. Get in touch today.

FAQS

Your frequently asked questions

Very simply, this is a visa that allows you to remain in the UK for at least 2 years once you complete your course.
Yes, the visa allows you to work full-time.
No, you will need to apply for another type of visa if you wish to remain in the United Kingdom.
We would advise not to, as the 2 years does not count towards your indefinite leave to remain and cannot be extended. We believe it is better to move to a visa which leads to indefinite leave to remain.
We would strongly recommend applying for either Skilled Worker, Global Talent, or Expansion Worker once your studies are done as these would lead to a direct pathway to British nationality.
